A serious case of administrative and financial irregularity has emerged in Desaipali village, Bonpally mandal, Rajanna Sircilla district. Local residents of the village raised the issue in a complaint filed with Prajavani Media News Channel, questioning how land acquired as zero land for the construction of a flood control canal (Varada Kalu), for which the government had already paid compensation, was subsequently registered in the names of private individuals.

Residents of Desaipali stated that when the construction of the flood control canal began, the administration purchased land from local residents as required for the project. At that time, landowners were provided with appropriate compensation in accordance with government regulations. It was understood during this process that the land had become government property and would be used exclusively for the public interest, namely canal construction and maintenance. However, according to the residents, the situation reversed entirely after some time.

The villagers allege that land which had already been recorded in the government’s name and for which compensation had been paid was suddenly registered in the names of certain private individuals. The villagers expressed doubt as to whether this registration process was legally valid or part of some form of fraud. They claimed that the private individuals who purchased the land allegedly tampered with government records to assert their ownership, even though the actual owner of the land is now the state government.

In a statement given to Prajavani, the residents of Desaipali have demanded that district officials and concerned departments conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. They questioned how the extent and ownership of the land could be altered after compensation was paid, given that the land is now reserved for public use. The villagers warned that if this irregularity is not investigated, it will cause significant harm to the local economy and public trust in the government.

No official response has yet been received from the administrative department regarding this matter. However, local sources state that such changes in land registration often occur without any protection order or notice, causing harm to the general public. Residents of Desaipali are now demanding that the private registration be cancelled and the land be re-entered into government records. This case has emerged as a unique and contentious issue in Rajanna Sircilla district in the context of demands for zero land and financial transparency.
