The Central Ministry of Health organized health check camps and a “Dialogue” program for cleaning friends under the Special Campaign 6.0.

New Delhi, 27 October 2026 – The right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution is a priority for every citizen, especially for those who work tirelessly for the cleanliness of society and public health. In this regard, the Ministry of Health has organized a comprehensive health check-up camp and a “Dialogue” program for cleaning workers (laborers working under the Swachh Bharat Mission) across the country under “Special Campaign 6.0.” This initiative is not only to monitor the physical health of these workers but also symbolizes the government’s commitment to their social and human rights.

The main objective of “Special Campaign 6.0” is to identify and provide free treatment for diseases prevalent among cleaning workers, particularly skin problems, respiratory ailments, and musculoskeletal disorders caused by long-term labor. Ministry officials said that under this campaign extensive screening is being carried out in major cities and rural areas through Mobile Medical Units (MMUs). Teams of senior doctors, pathologists, and physiotherapists are present at these camps, conducting detailed examinations of the workers and providing them with necessary medications and guidance for future care.

In addition, a “Dialogue” program has been organized with the primary aim of establishing direct communication with cleaning workers. These meetings provide a safe and open platform for workers to express their issues, concerns, and suggestions. Detailed information about policies, insurance schemes, and health services created by the government was shared in these sessions. The “Dialogue” program is considered successful because it has helped reduce the distance between workers and officials and strengthened the bond of trust between them.

A senior official of the Ministry of Health noted, “Cleaning workers are the backbone of our cities. If they are not kept healthy, public health will be directly affected. ‘Special Campaign 6.0’ is an important step in fulfilling this responsibility.” He also mentioned that in the coming months the campaign will be expanded to include mental health support and pension scheme assistance.

This initiative not only ensures access to health services but also sends a positive message to society about workers’ rights. Experts believe that if such campaigns are run consistently, the living standards of cleaning workers will improve significantly and they will become more aware of their rights. Praising this step taken by the central government, labor unions have also appealed to the government to run this campaign not as a one‑off event but on a regular annual basis so that every cleaning worker can receive timely health services.
