MoU between the Digital India Fund, Department of Telecommunications, Tamil Nadu Government, and Tamil Nadu Fibernet Corporation for the use of BharatNet network under ABP in Tamil Nadu

A historic agreement has been signed to promote digital connectivity in Tamil Nadu and ensure the extension of fiber optic networks to rural areas. This agreement is aimed at the effective utilization and expansion of the BharatNet network under the Accelerated Broadband Programme (ABP). The key agreement was signed between the Digital India Corporation (DBT), the Department of Telecommunications, the Government of Tamil Nadu, and the Tamil Nadu Fibrenet Corporation (TCF). Through this agreement, the existing capacity of the BharatNet fiber optic network will be maximized to enhance last-mile connectivity. The Tamil Nadu Fibrenet Corporation, a subsidiary of the state government, will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of the network.
