28 October 2026 – The Ministry of Civil Aviation convened a special review meeting to assess the current status and potential impacts of Cyclone Arnav. The meeting focused on all necessary measures to ensure the safe and smooth operation of airports during the cyclone’s arrival. The ministry emphasized that the safety of passengers and staff must be the highest priority, instructing all relevant agencies to remain alert.
During the review, the Ministry directed airlines, airport management, air service companies, and other stakeholders to submit detailed reports on their preparedness for disruptions that Cyclone Arnav may cause. Particular attention was given to airports where cyclonic winds and heavy rainfall are most likely. These sites were inspected for barricade walls, grass‑cutting equipment, and drainage systems to prevent serious operational interruptions during the cyclone.
Airport authorities were also asked to maintain coordination with local administration and the meteorological department. The ministry advised that if weather conditions deteriorate, passengers should be promptly informed of flight delays or cancellations and advised of alternative arrangements. Air Traffic Control (ATC) was instructed to exercise extra caution in maintaining flight paths within the cyclonic zone and to reroute flights if necessary.
Ministry officials clarified that the progress of Cyclone Arnav is being monitored continuously. Given the possibility of weather changes in the coming days, all airports were instructed to remain vigilant on a 24‑hour basis and to deploy resources to handle any emergency. The ministry’s goal is to ensure minimal disruption to civil aviation and a safe experience for passengers during the cyclone’s impact.
The meeting also decided that post‑cyclone, airport infrastructure would be reviewed to promptly repair any damage and restore normal operations as soon as possible. The Ministry assured all parties that it is committed to every possible measure related to Cyclone Arnav and will not compromise on travel safety.
