93rd General Body Meeting of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah

On Thursday, October 29, 2026, a significant financial and cooperative conference was held in New Delhi. On this occasion, Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah inaugurated and presided over the 93rd General Council meeting of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). This meeting is considered extremely important for determining the future direction of the country's cooperative economic system, where representatives from cooperative institutions across the country shared their views.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Amit Shah described the cooperative sector as the foundation of the country's economic strength. He stated that NCDC is not merely a financial institution but has emerged as a reliable partner for farmers, small artisans, and grassroots-level entrepreneurs. The Minister acknowledged that there has been a notable improvement in loan disbursement rates for cooperative institutions in recent years, providing millions of families with the opportunity to become self-reliant.

During the meeting, NCDC management presented a detailed overview of its financial performance for the fiscal year 2025-26. According to the report, the corporation has focused on diversifying its loan portfolio, which includes financial assistance ranging from the purchase of agricultural equipment to renewable energy projects. Members of the General Council praised the digital transformation initiative launched by NCDC, which has made the entire process, from loan application to approval, online and transparent.

A key issue discussed at the meeting was the budget allocation and potential adjustments to interest rates for the upcoming fiscal year. Presidents of several regional cooperative unions requested that credit limits for small and medium-sized cooperative societies be increased and that concessions be provided on processing fees. Shri Amit Shah took these suggestions seriously and directed the NCDC management team to form a dedicated committee to prepare a clear action plan to address these issues.

It is noteworthy that the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Cooperation of the Government of India, with the primary objective of providing consultancy, training, and financial assistance to cooperative institutions. A statement released after the conclusion of the 93rd General Council stated that the cooperative model will be advanced through a balance of modern technology and traditional values. All representatives present at the meeting expressed their gratitude for NCDC's successful initiative and announced that the cooperative sector would experience accelerated growth in the coming year. The meeting was held at a prominent conference center in central New Delhi, where all security and administrative arrangements were managed.
