In this action, about 10,000 kg of explosive substance, whose estimated value was said to be Rs 3 crore, was seized. Officials said that this smuggling network was connected to several countries and the main objective was to gain financial benefits by selling explosives in the black market. Evidence obtained during the investigation revealed that these firecrackers could have been used in a variety of industries and for illegal purposes, posing a serious threat to national security.

DRI attributed this success to its extensive surveillance and information-based methodology. The operation, carried out in coordination with port security agencies and Customs, also used specialized technical equipment and international cooperation. The seizure is believed to be one of the largest explosive smuggling operations at major sea ports of India in the last few years.
